Part New York City’s Shake Shack and part L.A.'s legendary In-n-Out, this four-seat Leslieville lunch counter causes lineups down the block come lunch and dinner, shifting up to 1,000 signature burgers a day. The cool kids know to order from the not-so-secret Secret Menu found on the Priest's Facebook fan page.
Best: from the regular menu, the Double Double, two of the beefiest patties imaginable (what's in them? It's a secret!) layered with processed American cheese and served on an absorbent Wonder Bread-like bun; for the fallen vegetarian, the Option, two panko-crusted deep-fried portobello mushroom caps glued together with cheese; from the secret menu, the Religious Hypocrite, an Option plus bacon; the High Priest, a Double Double gets a third bun and faux Big Mac secret sauce; the Tower of Babel, an Option wedged into a Double Double, its buns replaced by thin grilled cheese sandwiches; order anything Jarges-style and it comes fried in mustard — sounds terrible, tastes terrific.
Complete meals for $15 per person, including all tax, tip and a bottled water. Average main $8. Unlicensed. Cash only. Access: barrier-free, no washrooms.
