Le Ti Colibri closes in Kensington

Toronto has one fewer spot for French Caribbean food thanks to the recent closure of Le Ti Colibri. Though the Kensington Market restaurant was slinging codfish and calaloo as recently as mid-June, their phone’s been disconnected and the new tenant at 291 Augusta is already trumpeting its arrival via signage on the windows: Blintz and a Bong Cafe.

In addition to being an Austin Powers reference that my dad quoted endlessly in 2002, Blintz and a Bong promises to serve an “all day stoner breakfast” (expect shmokes and pancakes). This might mean stiff competition for the neighbouring Hot Box Cafe – but lord knows there’s enough stoners in Toronto to keep both afloat.
