Sabai Sabai ditches Church for Yonge and Bloor

Sukhothai is lauded as some of the city’s best Thai, and Pai is its super-fun spinoff with a night-market vibe and authentic northern Thai flair. With siblings like that, Sabai Sabai, a tapas bar also launched by chef Nuit Regular, tends to get lost in the shuffle. In other words, in the Sukhothai family, Sabai is Peggy. That’s a shame: The kitchen still does top-notch Thai and Lao small plates (and where else in town are you going to get a squash custard with fish)?

Looks like the Sabai formula is about to get a little Yorkville polish. The restaurant has abandoned its old digs for a shiny new location just steps away from Yonge and Bloor.

Over the weekend, Sabai served its last meal at 225 Church. A week from now, they reopen in a lower-level space at 81 Bloor East, underneath the Firkin on Bloor. (Way to snag a primo spot ahead of all those fancy new Yonge and Bloor condos, guys.) Follow them on Instagram to find out when their doors are back open.
