THE OSSINGTON 61 Ossington 416-850-0161
VIBE
This new drinking hole on the suddenly hopping Ossington strip is more upscale-looking than the neighbouring Sweaty Betty’s and Baby Huey but maintains that casual laid-back vibe. The front room feels very open and airy, while the back lounge is darker and loungier. Eclectic DJs entertain the crowds most nights.
PAST LIVES
Most recently an art gallery, the space reveals few signs of its former incarnation. It’s one of the only new bars on the street that didn’t take over an old karaoke joint.
CAN YOU DANCE?
While DJs are at work, the space isn’t really oriented to dancing. There’s enough floor space to make it possible, but the music is generally kept to a low level to facilitate talking rather than fancy footwork.
VALUE
It looks pretty swank, but you don’t need to take out a loan to hang out here. No cover, and a bar rail will cost you $4.25.
