Tiger of Sweden

TIGER OF SWEDEN 56 Ossington, 416-588-4437, tigerofsweden.com

Over the past month, arrivals on Ossington between Queen and Dundas have included francophile fashion boutique Annie Aime and grocer-butcher Côte de Boeuf. But the opening that marks the biggest evolutionary step on the strip is the new Tiger of Sweden store, the first big brand with an Ossington address.

Two galleries were merged to create the open space that stocks menswear, womenswear, footwear and accessories. Tiger’s short and trim jackets and trousers are the Scandinavian label’s bread and butter, but men’s buys for spring also include shirting in multicoloured plaid, polka dot bow ties and dapper silver tie clips. For women, there’s suiting, too, plus cocktail dresses and tanks with abstract and op art prints.

Footwear standouts include men’s tassel loafers and a pair of women’s orange suede cowboy booties.

Tiger of Sweden picks: The Nedvin suit is a two-button, double-vented style available this season in a lighter than usual blue, $799 the pink Mika dress is accented with a group of gathers along one side, $259 try on a blue suede brogue with a white rubber sole, $229.

Look for: A wall of just-in denim.

Hours: Monday to Wednesday and Saturday 11 am to 7 pm, Thursday and Friday 11 am to 8 pm, Sunday noon to 5 pm.
