Even a pretty big Lou Reed fan might find this just a little sparse. No special features, just a concert performance of mostly later Reed stuff during which he doesn't say a damn word except to introduce his band 14 tracks in. For his appearance at the Montreux jazz fest in 2000, Reed was also touring his album Ecstasy, which means that it might also help to love the hell out of that record, since it contributes nine of the songs in this concert. The few classics include Dirty Blvd. and Perfect Day, which are delivered kind of lazily and are probably better listened to in their original form. It's all just kinda bleah. But when you think about it, Reed is always kind of bleah. Outside of the VU, he's always just a little better in theory than in practice.
