If you’re interested in reliving the Toronto Maple Leafs 2020-21 season, a documentary series about the NHL team is dropping on Amazon Prime Video Canada on October 1.
The streaming platform announced All Or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs back in January, promising to give viewers an “intimate” behind-the-scenes look at head coach Sheldon Keefe, general manager Kyle Dubas and, of course, the team’s players.
It’s the first time an NHL team has been the focus of Amazon’s All Or Nothing sports series, which has previously focused on New Zealand’s All Blacks rugby team, the Manchester City soccer team and the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
Narrated by actor and Leafs fan Will Arnett, the five-episode series follows the Maple Leafs as they compete entirely in Canada as part of the NHL’s all-Canadian North Division, part of a reconfiguration of the league in response to COVID-19 restrictions.
Hockey fans will obviously know how everything turns out, so producers are hoping to lure sports viewers with behind-the-scenes drama as the team competes under enormous pressure from fans hungry for a Stanley Cup win. Cameras followed the action as the Leafs start the year strong in the seven-team North Division and eventually face off against their long-time rivals the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The show is part of Amazon Prime Video’s recent emphasis on CanCon. The streamer is also lining up a new Kids In The Hall series and the special Rupi Kaur Live, as well as a handful of scripted shows.
