Benders Game

Rating: NNN

Bender’s Game (Fox, 2008) D: Dwayne Carey-Hill, w/ voices of Billy West, Katey Sagal. Rating: NNN DVD package: NNN

This isn’t the cosmic lunacy of Futurama’s last outing, The Beast With A Billion Backs, but it’s still non-stop laughs from beginning to end.

There is a plot: Bender, divorced from reality by playing Dungeons & Dragons, ends up in the robot psych ward. Leela, unable to control her temper, gets a punishment collar. Everybody battles evil corporate Mom and her three stoogley sons over control of the world’s energy.

Then a plot contrivance knocks them all into a wicked Lord Of The Rings parody.

All this involves much gross-out humour from Zoidberg, Leela turning into a centaur, a demolition derby, munchkin barbecue, a great War Of The Worlds riff and more.

For more laughs, go to the commentary with creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, actors Billy West, John DiMaggio and Tress MacNeille, writer Michael Rowe, producer Claudia Katz and director Dwayne Carey-Hill.

EXTRAS Commentary, Dungeons & Dragons doc, drawing characters doc, bloopers. Full-frame. English, French, Spanish subtitles.
