Doc Soup: Racing Extinction

The monthly Doc Soup series returns to the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema this week with the Toronto debut of Racing Extinction Wednesday (October 7) at 6:30 and 9:15 pm and Thursday (October 8) at 6:45 pm. The first and last screenings have already gone rush, but tickets are still available for Wednesday’s 9:15 pm show.

The new project from The Cove’s Louis Psihoyos, Racing Extinction surveys the ongoing battle to pull the planet’s endangered species back from the brink by any means possible. (After The Cove, Psihoyos really understands the value of covert footage.)

The subject matter isn’t exactly heartening – in fact it’s downright soul-crushing – but the film finds rays of hope in the optimism and commitment of its human subjects. If Jane Goodall hasn’t given up yet, neither can I.

Co-producer Gina Papabeis will introduce each screening and hold Q&As afterward. She may need a hug.
