PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 (Paramount, 2012) D: Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman, w/ Kathryn Newton, Brady Allen. Rating: NN; Blu-ray package: N Rating: NN
There's more going on in the latest instalment of the Paranormal Activity franchise than in previous entries, but not a whole lot more, and it's almost all the same haunted house stuff we've seen before: objects move by themselves, and things go bump in the night.
The weirdness starts when the creepy 10-year-old from across the street comes to hang out with a bland suburban family's young son for a few days.
Only the teen daughter suspects anything, though not that the lurking woman is evil Katie from Paranormal 1-3.
This time, multiple webcams provide the series's found-footage gimmick, and tracking dots from a video game give it a visual boost that adds to the creepy atmosphere.
The extended - by nine minutes - version doesn't add much the story, and neither do the deleted scenes, masquerading under the title Recovered Files.
EXTRAS: Deleted scenes. English, French, Spanish, Portuguese audio and subtitles.
