When the AMC Yonge and Dundas 24 converted one of its largest auditoriums into the ETX screening room, it sounded like a gimmick. (More speakers! A slightly larger screen!) But the souped-up picture and audio really do enhance the impact of Hollywood’s latest state-of-the-art bang-bang… until the extra subwoofers send the whole thing falling into the Future Shop two floors down, anyway. Smaller screens provide a more appealing venue for artier fare than the deteriorating Carlton cinemas.
