When Ruben (Nicolas Maury) wants to keep the whack of cash he’s acquired by strange means, his Finnish boyfriend dumps him, forcing him to return to his family in Paris in time for Passover.
The big synagogue macher (Jean-Luc Bideau) is a dirty old man of a closet case, Ruben’s mother wants a nice Jewish girl for him, and Maury minces his way through the role. Imagine – Carmen Maura as Ruben’s sister is positively restrained.
French farce is an acquired taste for sure, but even fans of the genre will find the stereotypes in Let My People Go tasteless.
