The “explicit sexual content” warning on There Is No Sexual Rapport is merely a not towards propriety this French feature is constructed entirely of footage shot on the sets of the French hardcore pornographer who calls himself HPG. Straight, gay, poly – it’s all here, and the documentary presentation allows us to view it with a teeny bit of distance.
True to its title, There Is No Sexual Rapport aims to puncture the fiction that pornography is all about capturing hot, impulsive desire. Partners negotiate the terms of their intercourse and then get to it men mechanically maintain their erections between takes a young woman freaks out and has to be talked down after something unexpected happens during her first scene.
Those moments are intriguing, but most of it is just French people fucking.
