Is it Tahani Rached’s style or the subjects themselves that infuse These Girls with such energy? Hard to say, but the results are exhilarating.

Young girls living on the streets of Cairo play, scavenge and support each other. Occasionally, a self-appointed street worker helps out, but for the most part these girls are on their own – even as they’re birthing babies.
As they develop their friendships, make connections with the café owners and figure out how to survive, these street kids create a unique subculture.
