TIFF party picks

Thursday’s TIFF parties. Door crash at your own risk.

The Year of the Carnivore party at Rory Rolly’s Garage on Ossington promises performances by writer/director Sook-Yin Lee, Mark Rendall and Buck 65.

W Studio‘s first fest bash is for Willem Dafoe’s Antichrist but fashionatics have their fingers crossed for an appearance by Cannes Film Festival best actress-winning co-star, Parisian pop singer and Birkin-offspring Charlotte Gainsbourg.

It’s the first party night at last TIFF’s it spot, the Park Hyatt. Will the roof maintain its glittery cred under the management of international club outfit Nikki Beach?

AND, here’s a selection of film festival scoops, in 140 characters or less:

– Fingers crossed that MTV Canada’s Jessi Cruickshank will challenge MTV USA’s Alexa Chung to a DJ battle at the Holts TIFF party.

– Canadian Walk of Fame inductees Dean and Dan Caten will be celebrating their style star Sunday night with a private Fashion House bash.

– Blast off: After parties at abandoned Bay Station and on a Harbourfront tall ship, the Italian Trade Commission is headed to MaRs this TIFF.

– One of the best vantage points for TIFF star spotting: the window seat at the Four Seasons blow dry bar.

– Carpet shopping with the stars: W Studio hosting parties for Willem Dafoe, Vivica Fox and Ben Barnes flicks.
