TIFF teaser

I suppose the film festival attendee I should be most excited to see is Tom Ford. The former Gucci god and current purveyor of all things sartorially pricey has directed a movie called A Single Man which plays at the festival with Mr. Ford in attendance.

Or so it was confirmed two weeks ago when TIFF organizers released their annual guest list of boldfaced attendees to get the buzz train choo choo chooing towards opening day on September 10.

That 500-plus celebrity roll call has been one of the few jumping off points for pre-festival gossip like wondering whether Oprah will hit Delux on Ossington for a Cubano sandwich?

But with only a week to go until the “red carpets start rolling out across Toronto”, the party line-up is starting to be confirmed and insiders are beginning to loosen their lips.

So what will be TIFF’s biggest tale? Forget films altogether. This will be the TIFF of Twitter. I’ll be boiling down star spots and other scene scoops to 140 juicy characters through our new @NOWlifestyle handle and getting a little wordier with Morning After TIFFs on NOW Daily.

And what little items am I itching to post? How about that model buddies Coco Rocha and Behati Prinsloo have paired up for a vignette commissioned by Holt Renfrew that will premiere at its unofficial but officially always-one-of-the-best parties on September 12. The movie was made at the Gladstone, just a hop, skip and a jump in you best studded fall boots away from the Burroughes Building, where the bash takes place up on the 6th floor. Coco is confirmed to attend as are The Stills who will perform and appear in their own fashionable mini feature.

Or that CTV’s 299 Queen West headquarters, which hosted oodles of parties last year, will be a schmooze-free zone this festival. Something about TIFF organizers spreading their media sponsorship a little thin last fest. But never fear ETalk fans. The network’s entertainment news show, which has a recurring role in TIFF entry The Trotsky, will be setting up lounges at the Four Seasons, Park Hyatt, Roots, Sephora and Teatro Verde.

And that NOW’s own party will totally SUCK. The event at the Phoenix on September 11 celebrates the Canadian vampire feature and its rock star cast including Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Carol Pope.
