Rating: NNN

Pleasure Dome brings us a mixed bag of local cinematic treats. Included in this 19-work program are gems that have been shown around town before — such as Cassandra Nicolaou’s hilarious lesbian comedy Interviews With My Next Girlfriend and Ian Jarvis’s in-your-face gay porn fantasy Porno-Tubbies — and stand up to numerous viewings. I also enjoyed lesser-seen videos Machine Machine Machine Machine by Sara MacLean, which finds a scientist dressed in metallic wear shuddering over the treatment of discarded stoves and broken toasters, and Christina Zeidler’s sweet Traces, which uses hand-tinted images of herself, dogs and the city to convey her feelings about the death of her dog. Scott Treleaven and Paul P. enter perilous territory but come out intact with He Is The Boss Of Me, a short video exploring a man’s choice to remain a prisoner chained in a basement.
