Wadim was six when his Russian family moved to Germany. Despite the fact that they lived there as temporary aliens – for more than a decade! – Wadim considered Hamburg his home, until he jumped in front of a train at age 23. His final desperate act almost seems to have been his way to ensure he wouldn’t be deported again.
Through talking-head interviews, directors Carsten Rau and Hauke Wendler piece together Wadim’s turbulent life, providing an insightful and heart-wrenching portrait of a young man who had no country to call home.
