The seventh edition of the EKRAN Toronto Polish Film Festival gets underway tonight (Wednesday, November 11) at the Revue Cinema, screening a selection of features, shorts and documentaries “with both a Polish and multicultural focus” through Sunday.
The opening-night gala, Małgorzata Szumowska’s intriguing multi-character drama Body, is already sold out – though you’ll have another chance to catch it later this month at the European Union Film Festival.
But there’s plenty more to see, including Toronto filmmaker Mars Horodyski’s thoughtful dramedy Ben’s At Home (Friday, 7 pm), a program of short films from the Gdynia Film School (Saturday, 4:30 pm) and the war drama Warsaw 44 (Sunday, 6 pm), with director Jan Komasa in attendance.
There’s also an afternoon of free screenings at the High Park Library on Saturday: a program of Polish cartoons for kids at 1 pm, the documentary Solidarity According To Women at 2 pm and the experimental short People On The Bridge at 4 pm.
