Film Fests & Special Screenings Movies & TV

See Almost Famous with NOW for free!

It’s the one-year anniversary of NOW Free Flicks Mondays at The Royal! We’re celebrating this milestone by offering some great swag from Wet N Wild and Finesse in addition to beverage service from Stiegl and prizes from Pixie.

And what better film to screen for celebrating one year of entertaining events than Almost Famous? Cameron Crowe’s 2000 feature captured a unique time in American rock ‘n’ roll, when writing about music was maturing from a fan pursuit to a broadly engaging field of journalism.

In the journey of William Miller (played by Patrick Fuget), Almost Famous perfectly blends the fish-out-of-water conceit with a coming-of-age tale one that reveals as much as it embellishes about rock bands of the early 1970s. In many ways, the film is based on Crowe’s own experiences as a teenager when he tagged along on band tours while pitching to music magazines.

As always, this film screening is free and NOW’s senior film writer Norman Wilner will be there to introduce it. Please note: these events regularly fill to capacity, so if you’re hoping to see Almost Famous with us, get there early!

The first 100 guests get free popcorn courtesy of The Royal. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the film starts at 7:30 pm. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
