FOODIES (Henrick Styockare, Thomas Jackson, Charlotte Landelius, Sweden). 94 minutes. Rating: NN

Foodies spends way more of its resources shooting gorgeous food than it does probing its subjects: five increasingly influential food bloggers.

Except for Andy Hayler, who visits all 109 Michelin three-star restaurants, they mine their privilege to gallivant all over the world eating and assessing, seemingly without any actual knowledge of food.

Katie Keiko visits an isakaya in New York and loses track of what course she’s eating. Former model Aiste Misevicuite imagines she’s getting the real deal while the chef himself is serving her. (All couldn’t care less about anonymity.) Like many bloggers, former record mogul Steve Plotnicki makes extreme statements just to get attention. How did these people get any cred?

You could argue that the film is intended as a critique, but I didn’t catch a whiff of irony. SGC
