No Place To Hide: The Rehtaeh Parsons Story

NO PLACE TO HIDE: THE REHTAEH PARSONS STORY (Rama Rau, Canada). 47 minutes. Rating: NNN

Aspects of this summary of the shocking case of bullying victim Rehtaeh Parsons, who eventually committed suicide, betray its made-for-TV origins – especially its tendency to give short shrift to too many issues.

But when it keeps its focus on the way the school, justice and health care systems failed the high school student who tried to report her rape and subsequent cyber-bullying, it’s powerful.

Parsons’s father, Glen Canning, who expresses his outrage at the institutional rot, is an especially compelling figure.
