E-DREAMS (Wonsuk Chin) Rating: NNNN

E-Dreams stands out as a highlight of the second annual Reel World Film Festival, a program that promotes works made by minority filmmakers. It’s a documentary following the rise and fall of Internet startup company Kozmo.com, which acts as a sort of online convenience store, delivering food, videos and other small items by bike within an hour. The brainchild of 20-something investment bankers Joseph Park and Yong Kang, the company raises $250 million, expands its business exponentially and then collapses when the dot-com economy crashes. Like the similarly themed Startup.com, e-dreams gives us an inside look at the naïveté and hubris required by puppyish entrepreneurs to enter the world of high finance. You’ve gotta like a guy like Joe Park, who can’t resist talking to business reporters (even when it gets him in trouble) and knows when he’s sucked the money well dry.
