THE WAY HOME (Lee Jeong-hyang)
The Way Home beat Spider-Man at the South Korean box office, and it's easy to see why. It taps straight into a deep well of family feeling. A spoiled city boy goes to live with his crooked-backed old grandmother in the country. He treats her like dirt, and she endures. The outcome is never in doubt, but the quiet thrill of this movie lies in how it pares the action down to its elementals, like a Chaplin film. 85 minutes.
