ALIENS VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM

Directed by Greg Strause, Colin Strause, runs 86 minutes Rating: N

ALIENS VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM won’t please fans of either series, but the word “requiem” gives us hope we won’t see another for a while. Set just after the conclusion of the first monster mashup, it begins with a predator ship – full of facehuggers and one mean-ass alien-predator hybrid creature – crashing near a small town outside Colorado. Soon, an alpha predator is dispatched to clean up the mess, which includes lots of no-name actors getting their limbs ripped off and stomachs pumped full of alien DNA. Like most tired franchises, AVPR relies on a massive body count and action scenes filmed in darkness so we can’t see all the trick wires. As for dialogue, here’s a sample: “You’re too stupid to talk, Dale – shut up!” That about sums up the movie.
