A Lot Like Love (directed by Nigel Cole, 107 mins)

Another week, another romantic comedy.

A Lot Like Love stars the underrated Amanda Peet and boy toy du jour Ashton Kutcher (pictured, right) as strangers who meet on a plane, realize they’re totally wrong for each other and then keep running into each other over the next seven years.

Director Nigel Cole helmed the recent Calendar Girls , and screenwriter Colin Patrick Lynch has written… well, nothing else. He’s mostly an actor.

I’d see Peet (The Whole Nine Yards, Igby Goes Down) in just about anything. But doesn’t A Lot Like Love sound a lot like When Harry Met Sally?

Opens Friday (April 22). For venues and times, see Movies, page 97. Screened after press time. See review April 21 at www.nowtoronto.com/film.
