A group of kids grow up in the south side of Atlanta (hence the title) and find escape at the local skating rink in this urban drama loosely inspired by the lives of music producer Dallas Austin and TLC member Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins , both producers of the film. There's a lot riding on video director Chris Robinson 's first feature, but the film should do well in select demos, what with rapper Tip Harris , aka T.I. , in the lead, as well as Outkast's Big Boi and solid actors like Keith David and Lonette McKee rounding out the cast. Also doesn't hurt that Will Smith is one of the producers. Opens Friday (March 31). Screened after press time - see review March 30 at www.nowtoronto.com/film.
