Beautiful Women (Sathyan Ramesh, Germany). 87 minutes. Subtitled. May 28, 9:45 pm. Isabel Bader.
Rating: NNN Rating: NNN

A slice of German cheese served up with a little corn. Five women meet at an audition for a role in a sleazy made-for-TV movie but decide to party all day instead. They hole up in a resort hotel that’s officially closed but opened up to them by the female music duo there to rehearse. Much consumption of alcohol and many personal revelations ensue.

The cheese comes via the cabaret songs the girls are rehearsing, which act as a soundtrack for the film. The corn comes from the unlikely friendships – and some sex – that develop overnight. Look for a terrific scene where the quintet – now hammered – demonstrate on each other their experiences of their first het kiss, which gets two of them going…. You get the picture. A small guilty pleasure.
