Why? Why? Why? Why do really bad movies like this get made in Canada?[rssbreak]
In Eating Buccaneers, four advertising execs and one client try to survive a crash landing in a script that’s supposed to send up the ad biz but has zero wit. And plot? Gordon Pinsent makes a cameo appearance that undermines the whole thing.
Why is it shot so badly? These people are supposed to be in dense forest, yet you can see bright daylight through the trees in every scene.
Why are all the characters so completely unlikeable? I get that Peter Keleghan (The Newsroom), as the agency prez, has to be smarmy. But the rest, including an account manager (Shannon Beckner), a client (Steven McCarthy), copy writer (Jeff White) and art director (Leah Pinsent), are completely obnoxious.
You can’t get invested in this kind of narrative when you don’t give a rat’s ass if everybody dies.
