A subplot involving Kevin’s brother’s marital infidelity is one of many unnecessary distractions. Cronin and Sadiq deliver mature performances, but Kevin is a difficult character to swallow. Timid and infantile one moment, wise and charismatic the next, his contradictions make the relationship perplexing and the film impotent.
