Garbage! The Revolution Starts At Home

GARBAGE! THE REVOLUTION STARTS AT HOME (D: Andrew Nisker, Canada). 76 minutes. Saturday (April 19), 1 pm, Bloor Tuesday (April 22), 9 pm, Al Green. Rating: NNN

Following the Michael Moore template, Toronto-based director Andrew Nisker puts a human face on our wasteful Western ways. He enlists a family of five to keep all the garbage they generate for a three-month period. They store the trash in their garage but don’t have to keep their organics. While that’s going on, we learn about various industrial recycling methods and several health hazards related to energy production.

Nisker’s intentions are good, but he doesn’t seem to have a larger point to make beyond reminding us that we produce an awful lot of waste.

By the way, please recycle this newspaper.
