Hostel: Part II

Rating: NNNNN

Hostel: Part II

(D: Eli Roth, 114 min)

Love it or hate it, you can’t ignore Eli Roth ‘s torture-‘n’-travel flick, Hostel, which splattered onto screens the first week of January 2006. Rumours of a sequel seeped out as soon as the big opening weekend receipts got, er, crunched. Now, just in time for backpack season and again executive-produced by Quentin Tarantino , the sequel’s here. This time young women, instead of young men, are the protagonists. We’re sad to see that Heather Matarazzo , everyone’s favourite indie film misfit (Welcome To The Dollhouse) is in the cast. Please let her death be quick and merciful, Mr. Roth.

If you don’t like this kind of film, you won’t go near it. If you do like this kind of film, you’ve probably already bought your ticket, you sick bastards.

Opens Friday (June 8). No press screening — see review June 11 at www.nowtoronto.com/film.
