THE SCORE (Frank Oz) has the kind of credits that pit the viewer's mind against itself. Look! three generations of great method actors in one movie! Norton, De Niro, Brando! Yeah, but what's Brando done for us lately? And besides, this is just another damned caper movie. As Jeff Daniels said of Speed, "That's not acting, it's running with guns." But Frank Oz is directing! It could be the What About Bob? of caper movies -- a bizarre thought. It could also be the Housesitter of caper movies. And there's nothing in Oz's filmography to indicate an interest in straight-up genre filmmaking. Yeah, well, it's got Angela Bassett. OK, hard to argue with that one. 127 minutes.
