Navel gazers

Women In Love (Karen Everett, U.S.). 62 minutes. Sunday (May 21), 9:45 pm. ROM. Rating: NN Rating: NN

If you’re interested in a video diary about one woman’s attempts to explore non-monogamy and/or polyamory, then Women In Love is for you.

I just wish director Karen Everett were a little more interesting as a person. Gradually becoming obsessed with shooting every key moment in her personal life, she’s not nearly as fun to watch as the women in her community, including Phyllis Christopher , whose erotic photography is glorious, and porn entrepreneurs Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano , who give the documentary a rare shot of energy.

Shot in pedestrian fashion, Women In Love thinks it’s got some clever insights, but the only message we get from this self-absorbed item is that the perpetual presence of a camera can be bad for a relationship. No kidding.
