OH! CANADA COMEDY SHORTS June 14, 6:30 pm, Cumberland 1. Rating: NNNNN
How many friends have you added on Facebook this week? How many gifts have you received? How many games have you played? About Face (Rating: NNNN) is a smart short about everybody’s favourite office time-waster.
It’s not easy being a celebrity, even a C-level Canadian star like Kids in the Hall’s Dave Foley. And Dave Foley + Fans (Rating: NNN), about the titular chance encounter, is painfully funny and will likely have you wondering what the Geminis are, too.
The Bar (Rating: NNN) stars Peter DeLuise (son of Dom) in a detective noir farce that feels like what Dashiell Hammett would’ve written if he’d made Airplane-style comedies.
And the next time you’re in your favourite coffee shop, try asking your barista for a Boyfriend Latte (Rating: NNN), and be sure to make it a grande. This whipped-cream light rom-com is a quirky story about a single gal who’s dating her morning pick-me-up.
WORLDWIDE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL runs Tuesday (June 10) to June 15, various times. $10-$20, passes available. For complete schedule and venues, see Indie & Rep Film, page 105. 416-967-1528, www.shorterisbetter.com.
