Postal

POSTAL (Uwe Boll). 109 minutes. Opens Friday (May 23). Rating: NN

Postal is evidence that Uwe Boll, whose name has become every critic’s favourite punchline, is finally comfortable with his status as the “worst filmmaker in the world.” In this disgusting and ultra-violent video game adaptation from the director who once literally fought naysayers in the boxing ring, a disgruntled redneck goes ballistic on his white-trash trailer-park town, which happens to be teeming with gang-raping chimps, a doomsday cult reminiscent of Scientology and al Qaeda men bickering over how many virgins they’ll get in heaven. It’s all deliberately rude and brain-dead. And before any critic can state the obvious, Boll shows up in a cameo (boxing glove on hand) to take shots at himself and save us the trouble.
