Timed for release around Earth Day, Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell‘s Pump spurts out some obvious information about how our dependence on fossil fuels has ruined the economy, sparked wars over foreign oil supplies and basically wrecked the earth.
All no-brainers.
Their freshest findings involve facts about alternatives, including various alcohol-based fuels like ethanol and methanol, which are cleaner, cheaper and can be produced domestically.
Their revelation about how many cars have the capacity to use such fuels – but that this is blocked by government legislation – is eye-opening.
The message is sound, but the film itself is all over the place, filled with repetitive talking heads, a patronizing tone and narration by Jason Bateman that sounds like he phoned it in.
