Rocky Balboa (D: Sylvester Stallone, 102 min)
When the trailers for Rocky Balboa – or, if you’re keeping count, Rocky VI – first popped up in the summer, there was a mix of “Wow, another Rocky!” and “Who’s that?” We were thinking, “Hmm… how old is Sylvester Stallone ?” Turns out he’s 60. Looks pretty good. The only question is, will the people who grew up with the Rocky franchise — namely, baby boomers — go see it? Stallone, once Hollywood royalty, is now in the position of underdog. He needs a hit. If this pic survives the holiday rush, it’ll be a comeback of a different sort.
