See Frank with NOW – for free!

We’re betting that when the press kits for Frank went out, a lot of people might have been wondering whether Michel Gondry was at it again. But, as noted in Norm Wilner’s NNNN review, the giant papier mâché head-man was originally a cult performer in the 80s.

Named Frank Sidebottom, Wilner describes the character as “a deliberately impenetrable British performer who sang insane songs.” The film follows Frank (played by Michael Fassbender) as he initiates a young wannabe musician (Domhnall Gleeson) into his eclectic band.

Frank is directed by Lenny Abrahamson – whose name you might recognize from the list of nominated Best Directors at the recent Oscars ceremony. After Frank, Abrahamson went on to direct newly-minted Best Actress Brie Larson in Room.

If you come to NOW’s Free Flick Mondays at The Royal – co-presented by Stiegl and Pixie – you’ll see Frank for free and hear it introduced by Senior Film Writer Norm Wilner himself.

The first 100 guests get free popcorn courtesy of The Royal, and there will also be Stiegl beverages for sale on site. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the film starts at 7:30 pm. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We’ll see you there!
