EVA DOESN’T SLEEP

EVA DOESN’T SLEEP (Eva No Duerme)

Somewhere between an essay film and an absurdist anthology, Eva Doesn’t Sleep meditates on the meaning of Eva Peron to the citizens she left behind.

An admiral (Gael García Bernal) rages about her populist appeal an embalmer (Imanol Arias) prepares her corpse with something like devotion two soldiers (Denis Lavant, Nicolás Goldschmidt) come to blows over the crate containing her body.

It’s deeply weird and not entirely satisfying, but I have the feeling Agüero wouldn’t have it any other way.
