#24. MO Wave Showcase

Rating: NNNNN

NXNE is getting its gay on with the hotly anticipated Mo Wave Showcase (June 12, Phoenix Concert Theatre, 8 pm), where past, present and future queer Canadian stars will be lavishly feted. First on the bill is Ember Swift, a spunky singer/songwriter who was honoured last year with her first Canadian Independent Music Award. Shell be followed by Torontos own homo-gospel revival choir, the Hidden Cameras, who never stop stirring up international buzz. If youre not sold yet, headlining the night are Canadian new-wave trailblazers Rough Trade, whove racked up multiple Juno wins alongside their Sapphic top-40 hit High School Confidential.
