#6. NME Showcase at the Reverb

Rating: NNNNN

Sure, Brit music mag New Musical Express has a reputation for rockist hyperbole, but that doesn’t mean its heavily hyped June 12 showcase at the Reverb is anything to scoff at. Making the voyage with NME from the UK will be current East London buzz kids These New Puritans, who are quickly establishing themselves as a must-?see live act with their cryptic brand of post-?punk and frenzied stage moves that bring to mind early Joy Division and the Fall. Alongside these newcomers will be Welsh alt-rock revivalists People in Planes, some punked-up riffage from Israeli garage rockers Monotonix, Toronto pop-rockers the Midway State and UK indie pop band Mad Staring Eyes.
