751 Queen West Rating: NNNNN

VIBE The Queenshead Pub’s business model must have worked out. The owners have opened a second joint just down the street to accommodate larger events. Like the Queenshead, it’s casual and down-to-earth, and you can hear DJs playing everything from punk to hiphop to electro to indie, depending on the night.

PAST LIVES The building has been several different pubs, including Paddy Murphy’s, the Ancient and Munster Hall. Now the kitchen has been knocked out to make room for a back patio that should be open this summer.

VALUE Drink prices are cheap, and there’s often a special. The night of our visit they were featuring $2.50 shots of Jager or Jack Daniel’s. There can be a small cover, depending on the event.

DANCING OR LOUNGING Although the vibe is still very much based on its past life as a pub, there’s a much higher likelihood of dancing than during the spot’s days as a restaurant.
