3 Generations walking

3 Generations walking (Spiritual Life Music) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNN

The 3 Generations Walking project is essentially Michele “MKL” Lopez and Herman “Soy Sos” Pearl, along with literally three generations of musicians spread over this debut full-length album. Their beautiful cover of Burning Spear’s Slavery Days – the single that initially sparked interest in the project – is included here, and that’s typical of what’s going on with the rest of the album. Picture the ultra deep Afro-Latin post-house sound of Spiritual Life and add a healthy dose of dub reggae influence, along with elements of mature R&B, and you’ve got 3 Generations Walking. The production is detailed and inventive without being too polished or digital, and the performances are genuinely interesting.
