50 Cent

The consequence of scoring a hit with Shady Records is that you have to put up with having subsequent songs co-written by Marshall Mathers and tracks produced by Eminem, who knows that nothing pays the bills like double dipping – well, other than triple dipping. Shhhh. Lucky for our boy Em, 50 Cent is a simple thug of simple needs with regard to beats and rhymes. So as long as there are a few numbers that explicitly outline how he likes his lollipop licked in between the gun-waving revenge fantasies and it’s all set to a booming bottom-heavy whump – as with The Massacre – then he’s good to go. The best of the bunch is the Dre-devised posse cut Hate It Or Love It (remix) tacked on as a bonus. Sadly, 50 Cent hasn’t yet learned 2Pac’s lesson that those who live by gat frontin’ tend to die by it.
