A John Waters Christmas

Rating: NNN

buy this at amazon.ca!

The only yuletide collection released so far this year to boast an “Explicit content” warning sticker, A John Waters Christmas is a delightfully twisted set of holiday-season head-scratchers that are alternately hilarious, troubling, goofy and haunting – pretty much what you’d expect from the taboo-testing filmmaker who gave us Mondo Trasho, Desperate Living and Pink Flamingos. Admittedly, a tear-jerking recitation about a physically challenged orphan girl or Tiny Tim shrieking himself silly through Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer won’t be everyone’s idea of a good time, but there are loads of strange obscurities to delight bah-humbuggers with a bent sense of humour who are looking to amuse revellers or horrify the folks.
