With a sense of timing Swiss watchmakers would envy, Adi Braun remains solid as ever with her latest set. Going with the same band that backed her on her last album, Delishious, was a wise move. Pianist Doug Riley, bassist Steve Wallace and drummer Terry Clarke smoke on every track, creating a smooth sensuality that complements Braun's delicious vox perfectly. People sometimes compare female jazz singers to Ella Fitzgerald, but Braun really is that good. Her sultry delivery'll get you a little hot - even if she does look like your best friend's mom.
Braun plays the Montreal Bistro tonight through Saturday (October 6 to 8).
