From a political perspective, there's something a little suspect about a French guy shamelessly appropriating African funk, soca, Latin, and American deep house. On the other hand, past editions of the Africanism series have actually sold quite well in some parts of Africa and the series has produced some of the most memorable deep house tracks of the past five years. This newest edition, mixed and compiled by Bob Sinclar, puts to rest speculation about the death of the French house scene. There are plenty of strong tracks, and the production sounds even tighter and warmer than previous outings. Groovy summer music, soon to be heard on patios all over the city.
