Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper The Eyes Of Alice Cooper ( Eagle Records ) Rating: NNN

Rating: NNN

Pull out those tight jeans you wore in your 20s, all you aging rockers out there – Alice Cooper is rocking hard again. If you loved what the creepy man was doing in the 70s, then you’ll love the Eyes Of Alice Cooper. It’s pretty much back to good old Alice – who’s looking more and more like he should be hosting Tales From The Crypt. He’s added a few more modern punk inflections and he almost slips into Green Day turf in Man Of The Year, but then quickly jumps back again. There are some great moments here. Thankfully, he hasn’t gone the big-production route, though at times the stripped-down recording style can get a bit muddy-sounding. He may be the big daddy of shock rock and a huge influence on all things ghoulish in today’s music, but there’s something strangely quaint about all of this.
