Some 35 years after the fact, the Allman Brothers have released a document of this live performance featuring their original lineup. The recording is clear but unbalanced – all guitar and drums, with bass and keys buried. It’s hard not to laugh out loud when the aimless 15 minutes of You Don’t Love Me culminate in a musical quotation of Joy To The World, and even the album highlight, blues classic Stormy Monday, can hold on to its subtlety and restraint tone only so long before exploding into wank. For hardcore fans only.
The Allman Brothers play Molson Amphitheatre Tuesday (August 16).
